Shamicka Benn

Shamicka Benn-Moser graduated with a BFA in Theatre and Dance from the University of Tennessee in her hometown Knoxville, TN. Then she was invited to attend the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for rigorous training in various disciplines with a primary focus on the Lester Horton technique.

Her dance vocabulary was widely expanded through working with the late Denise Jefferson (Martha Graham technique), Maguette Camara (West African), and Ana Marie Forsythe to name a few of the staff members.  She truly believes that New York City developed her as a dancer, a well-rounded artist/entertainer, and as a woman trustworthy of the precious gift of influence.

Shamicka has performed in many stage productions including Hair, For Colored Girl Who Considered Suicide When the Rainbow was Enuf, Little Shop of Horrors, Dreamgirls, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat, and Pippin. It was in 2007-2012 when she was blessed with her dream show, the Broadway International tour of “Chicago”. This allowed her to tour all over the U.S., Bangkok, and Japan. While out on the road she teamed up with Broadway Connection to teach Fosse masterclasses to local studios.

She fell in love with the creative mind of the last Bob Fosse in high school. And after working with Gary Cryst on the original choreography of “Chicago”, it’s been her mission to sow the seeds of his artistry in up-and-coming artists wherever she goes.

Shamicka believes performing onstage is a spiritual experience. The gift of being an artist and a co-creator is something to be cherished. The freedom to create is endless once knowledge, understanding, and accurate execution have been exercised in any discipline. She acknowledges all the people who have influenced her journey and desires to infuse young artists with that same passion.

She currently resides in Los Angeles after uniting with her life developer, Christoph Moser. She and her husband are truly a team and are excited for all the upcoming works God will produce through their marriage. Be on the lookout for her debut album “I Am Because You Are”, her first book A Play Date With Jesus, and various productions conceived by the Mosers.
